2007-08 Season Game Summaries

Week #10

Syracuse 35
Louisville 24

Syracuse made it a perfect 10-0 in the regular season with a 35-24 victory over Louisville. Syracuse was in control throughout as the Orangemen depth was too much for Louisville. Ryan Decoste led all scorers with 15 points on a number of penetrating moves. Michael Noyes had a very strong game with 8 points and Colin Cleary and Patrick Landrigan each had 4 points. Other members of undefeated Syracuse who came though all year long include Tyler Ginnett, Alex DeCoste, Walker Champeaux, Bernard Sou, Lyndon Langthorne and Chaz Hirbour. Nick Sousa led Louisville with 11 points.

Kansas 39
Boston College 21

Kansas maybe the hottest team going into the playoffs. The Jayhawks earned a share of the West title with a convincing 39-21 win over Boston College. The second and fourth quarters keyed the win as Kansas outscored the Eagles by 7 in Q2 and 8 points in the final quarter. Patrick McLaughlin was unstoppable as he tallied 19 points. Tanner Houle had 10 points of which all came in the big 2’nd and 4th quarters. Dan Nolan had 7 points and Eric You had one basket. Zack Ricardo led BC with 8 points and Nathan Haded scored 7 points.

Memphis 49
USC 29

Memphis joined Kansas and UCLA as the top teams in the West with a 49-29 triumph over USC. Memphis held a slim 17-15 lead at half time before improving their margin to 7 points in the third. In the final segment they held USC to one point while scoring 12. Alec McCabe tossed in 13 points while Stephen Gillies added 9 points. Siyuan Ma helped out with 7 and Tim Ni, Dan Pho and Matt Arsenault scored 6 points. Mason Trubey had a big game for USC with 16 points and John Corbett scored 6 including a 3 pointer.

UCLA 41
Stanford 22

UCLA became the third team to finish at 7-3 and tied for first place in the West as the Bruins took care of Stanford 41-22. It was a close contest until UCLA scored 9 points late in the first half and 14 points early in the second half. Thomas Murphy dominated Stanford scoring 22 points along with grabbing 15 rebounds. Derek Hill came through with 9 points and Tyler Armstrong pulled in 11 rebounds. Mike Wilkins led Stanford with 10 points.

Georgetown 35
North Carolina 29

Georgetown scored the games first 17 points against North Carolina but the Tar Heels make a game of it before falling 35-29. Cody Nazzaro was instrumental in Georgetown getting a quick start as he scored 9 of his game high 16 points in the first quarter. Tim Cassells came through for the Hoyas with 8 points and numerous rebounds and Abishek Tripathi had 2 baskets. Tim Havener and Mike DiPietro were both outstanding on the defensive side. Josh Lovas led NC with 10 points and Justing Sheehan scored 7 points and Ben Hillman added 4 points.

Michigan State 33
Duke 28

In a see saw battle Michigan State prevailed over Duke 33-28. The Spartans took a 26-24 lead going into the final segment and never looked back in the final 3:30. Zack Warnock had an outstanding game with 12 points including 4 in the final quarter. Rob Massey had 9 points and Evan Lefebvre scored 6 points. Cam Burns had a big bucket in the third quarter while Kyle Smith also had a big score in the final quarter. Zack Latitmore led Duke with 10 points and Kasey Ferreia had 6 points.

Indiana 36
UConn 15

Indiana played their best game of the season as they stormed past UConn 36-15. It was 8-0 after one quarter and 14-4 at the break. Kevin Tatara was outstanding for the Hoosiers with 8 points. Joe Roark and Andrew Knightly each had 6 points and Tom Bradley and Kevin Moriarty added 4 points appiece. Kevin Falco and Jeff Falco each scored 4 points for UConn.


Week #9

USC 34
Georgetown 33

It was the battle of speed of USC against the size of Georgetown and in the end USC’s quickness prevailed, as the Trojans took a 34-33 decision. The game was tight throughout as it was 18-18 at the break and 26 all after 3 quarters. Austin Drake scored the games big bucket as with just over 2 minutes to go he gave his club a 4 point lead at 34-30. Georgetown got within one point and had a shot to win but a last second effort fell just short. Chris Materna and Mason Truebey both had 11 points for USC. Austin Drake had 4 points and John Corbett, Danny Materna, Nick Delpozzo and Mike Terrio also scored. Nathan Harmon and Travis Walsh played solid defense to help USC to the win. Abishek Tripathia led Georgetown with 8 points while Spyros Antinou had 7 and Dan Havener and Cody Nazzaro scored 6 points.

UCLA 24
Michigan State 16

UCLA pitched a shutout against Michigan State in the first quarter as they led 6-0 which paved the way for a 24-16 win. The Bruins improved the first quarter lead to 13-4 before Michigan State had a big comeback in the third. The Spartans closed the gap to 3 points with the Bruins holding a slim 17-14 lead. In the final quarter it was all UCLA as they gave up only 2 points while scoring 7 in the final section. Derek Hill preserved the win with 6 of his game high 10 points in the fourth quarter. Thomas Murphy scored 7 points while Tyler Armstrong had 4 points. Shayan Sobhian, Kyle Smith and Evan Lefebvre all scored 4 points for Michigan State.

Duke 47
Louisville 42

In an exciting offensive battle Duke outscored Louisville 47-42. Duke led 24-14 at halftime and 34-25 after three quarters. Louisville had a great surge in the final quarter led by Nick Sousa but fell just short. Sousa scored 12 of his 22 points in the last quarter on a number of great drives to the basket. Shawn Callahan had 7 points for Louisville while Connor Martin had 6 points. For the victors Kasey Ferreria led the high scoring attack with 11 points. Jim Barry and Zack Lattimore each scored 9 points. Arjun Balaji tallied 8 points. Brian Carey scored 6 points and Steve Richards was a force on the boards.

Boston College 31
Indiana 25

Boston College prevailed over Indiana 31-25. BC was up by 9 after three quarters and a pesky Indiana team made it tight. Ben Melisi had a great game for the Eagles with 10 points. Paul O’Brien and Nathan Haded each scored 7 points while Chris Judge had one basket. Tom Bradley had a strong game for Indiana with 12 points and Joe Roark scored 6 points while Kevin Tatara made 3 foul shots.

Syracuse 29
North Carolina 16

Syracuse made it 9-0 in the regular season as they took care of North Carolina 29-16. The second quarter keyed the win as the Orangemen outscored the Tar Heels by 7 points. Ryan Decoste could not be stopped as he scored 14 points. Colin Cleary had 4 points while Michael Noyes had 3 points. Bernard Sou also played well and scored 2 points and Tyler Ginett played outstanding defense as he and his teammates were able to force many turnovers Mike Wilkins led Stanford with 8 points and Derek Cabral had 3 points.

Kansas 28
North Carolina 20

Despite missing some key players Kansas showed their depth in a solid 28-20 victory over North Carolina. Tanner Houle led the way with 9 points and Dan Nolan scored 8 points. Doug Consalvi was clutch in the last quarter as he made 3 foul shots. Joe McLaughlin and Eric You scored solo baskets. Joe St. Hillaire had another solid game for North Carolina with 8 points and Bryce Wynn and Josh Lovas had 4 points.

Memphis 36
UConn 15

A strong second quarter for Memphis did in UConn as Memphis took a 36-15 win. In the second quarter Memphis outscored the Huskies 14 to 3. Stephen Gillies scored all of his 6 points in the big quarter. Siyua Ma had a great game with 10 points and Alec McCabe put up 9 points. Jack Scriavani helped out with 4 points and Matt Arsenault scored 3 points. Jake Glovin and Jake Ashley each had 4 points for UConn.


Week #8

Syracuse 40
UCLA 36 (Overtime)

In the game of the season Syracuse continued its road to perfection with a 40-36 win over UCLA in overtime. The Bruins led 36-34 before Ryan DeCoste tied it with a driving lay-up with 28 seconds to go. In the extra session Decoste hit two more foul shots and Chaz Hirbour was clutch with another two foul shots and Syracuse had the win. Decoste led all scorers with 16 while Hirbour had 6 points and Walker Champeaux scored 5 including a monster 3 pointer. Derek Hill led UCLA with 13 points followed by 10 from Thomas Murphy and 5 for Jeremy O'Donnell and 4 points for Tyler Armstrong.

Kansas 48
Louisville 42

In a game where both teams shot the ball well Kansas prevailed over Louisville 48-42. The score was tied at 10 after one quarter before Kansas took a 21-17 half time lead keyed but a 10-0 run early in the second quarter. The Houle/Mclaughlin tandem were at it again as Tanner Houle scored 19 points while Patrick McLaughlin had 17 points. Max Shinnick helped out with 4 points and Eric Yu had a fine all around game and scored 3 points. Nick Sousa was solid for Louisville with 13 points followed by 10 points from Conner Martin and 7 from Shawn Callahan and 6 from Stephen McDonald.

USC 32
Duke 22

USC was impressive in stopping Duke 32-22. Chris Materna keyed the victory with 12 points. Mason Trubey scored 6 and John Corbett and Michael Terrio added 5 points. Zack Lattimore led Duke with 6 points.

Memphis 28
Indiana 22

Memphis pulled into a share of first place in the West with a 28-22 victory over Indiana. Alec McCabe continued his fine play with a game high 11 points. Guard Stephen Gillies scored 9 points including a 3 pointer while Nick Bain and Matt Arsenault both scored 4 points. Indiana center Joe Roark led his club with 8 points and Tom Bradley scored 6 points.

Georgetown 45
Michigan State 29

An undermanned Michigan State team could not keep up with Georgetown as Hoyas ran off with a 45-29 win. The first quarter was the difference as Georgetown outscored Michigan State 13-4. Cody Nazzaro scored 4 of his game high 16 points in the first quarter assault. Abishek Tripathi had another solid game with 10 points while Dan Pires scored 6 points, Tim Cassels 5 points and Kyle Manautou added 4 points. Zack Warnock was the top Michigan State scorer with 12 points and Rob Massey contributed 10 points.

Boston Coleege 30
North Carolina 24

Nathan Haded's 10 points led Boston College to a 30-24 win over North Carolina. Alex Bottomley and Sam Fontaine had two baskets each while four other players scored two points each. One of the baskets went to Cameron Cartaglia. For Cartaglia it was his first hoop of the year and he was immediately embraced by his teammates. Josh Lovas scored 9 points for North Carolina and Joe St Hillaire had 8 and Connor Tuttle added a 3 pointer.

Stanford 35
UConn 14

Stanford reached the 500 mark with a 35-14 win over UConn. Mike Wilkins led the way with 9 points while Alex Paroyian and Joe Grasso had 8 points each. Stephen Sarault, Austin Collias and Anthony Karafelis also contributed with baskets. James Lyons had a number of nice moves for UConn and scored 7 points to lead his team.


Week #7

Georgetown 28
UCLA 26

In was a great start for Georgetown and almost a memorable finish for UCLA as the Bruins fell just short 28-26. Georgetown scored the games first 10 points and led 28-15 with 3:30 to go. UCLA applied great pressure down the stretch and almost tied it but Thomas Murphy’s fade away just missed and Georgetown got the win to improve to 4-3. Abishek Trepath led the Hoyas with 12 points followed by 6 from Brendan Daly and Joe Nazzaro. Georgetown also received outstanding defensive contributions from Mike DiPietro and Spyros Antoniou. Thomas Murphy had 12 points for UCLA and Derek Hill added 6 points.

North Carolina 33
Indiana 29

The game came down to the wire as the North Carolina Tar Heels hung on to defeat Indiana 33- 29. North Carolina got great games from Joseph St. Hilaire, 14 points and 6 rebounds while Josh Lovas ripped off 9 rebounds and scored 13 points. Also scoring for the Tar Heels were Justin Sheehan with 4 points (2 key foul shots late in the game) and Zachary Ferris with 2 points. Oliver Ferren and Connor Tuttle and Tony Bernazani all played a strong defensive game. Nine of ten Indiana players scored with Joe Roark leading the way with 6, Kevin Tatara and Kevin Moriarty scored 5 points.

Memphis 35
Duke 24

Memphis was impressive from start to finish in downing Duke 35-24. A big second quarter keyed the win as the Tigers outscored Duke by 8 points. Alec McCabe was instrumental in the surge as he scored 6 of his game high 18 points in the second quarter. Dan Pho was dominant on the boards and scored 11 points. Jordan McMahon had 4 points. Stephen Gillies, Tim Ni, Siyuan Ma and Charlie Marcotte also contributed to the win. Kasey Ferreia and Jim Barry each scored 6 points to lead Duke.

Stanford 34
Michigan State 29

Stanford outscored Michigan State by 10 points in the third quarter and went on to a 34-29 victory. It was 13-13 at half time before Stanford had the big quarter. Joe Maniscalco was huge with 6 of his 10 points coming in that section. Mike Wilkins added 7 points while Alex Paroyian , Austin Collias and Derek Cabral scored 4 points each. Evan Lefebvre had 10 for Michigan State and Zack Warnock contributed 7 points.

Louisville 43
Boston College 35

Connor Martin and Nick Sousa led Lousivlle to a 43-35 win over Boston College. Sousa scored 16 points while Martin had a fine all around game and had 12 points. Shawn Callahan had 7 points while Chris Shepard helped out with 6 points. Jordan Reynolds led BC with 12 points while Zack Ricardo added 6 points.

Syracuse 42
USC 30

USC was able to stay with undefeated Syracuse early on but eventually the Orangemen took over as they took a 42-30 win. Colin Cleary (5 points) and Mike Noyes (5 points) were a force on the boards as they pulled down a combined 18 rebounds. On the defensive side Patrick Landrigan (10 points), Chaz Hirbour( 6 points) and Ryan DeCoste (7 points) applied the pressure to limit USC’s offensive attack. Mason Trubey led USC with 10 points.

Kansas 42
Duke 21

Center Patrick McLaughlin was dominant in Kansas defeating Duke 42 -21. McLaughlin scored 14 points of which 8 came in the third quarter. Tanner Houle was also outstanding with 12 points. Max Shinnick and Doug Consalvi contributed 4 points each. Kevin Falco ended up with 6 points for UConn including a 3 pointer. Jake Ashley also scored 6 points and James Lyons added 5 points.


Week #6

North Carolina 33
Louisville 32

The North Carolina Tar Heels overcame a fourth period surge by the Louisville Cardinals to win 33 to 32. Joseph St. Hilaire and Joshua Lovas led the NC’s scoring with 9 and 8 pts, respectively. But, it was a well balanced team effort and tough defense that ultimately combined to beat a very good Cardinal team. Justin Sheehan scored all eight of his points in the last two periods. Ben Hillman, Oliver Farren, Bryce Wynn and Connor Tuttle all scored 2 pts. Tony Bernazani, Zach Ferris and Paul Smith played tough defensive games, forcing a number of turnovers. Louisville’s Nick Sousa scored the game high of 15 pts. Teammates Evan Brown and Connor Martin added 6 and 5 pts each to the Cardinal effort.

UCLA 29
USC 23

USC's Mason Trubey hit a three pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime but it was all UCLA in the extra stanza as they beat the Trojans 29-23. USC held the lead throughout the first half, but the UCLA press gave them the lead late in the 3rd quarter. Derek Hill led the UCLA offense with 13 points, including 4 in overtime. Thomas Murphy and Frank Desilvio chipped in with 6 points while Jeremy O'Donnell tallied 4 points for the Bruins. Trubey was the man for USC with a game high 15 points. The Trojans also received points from John Corbett, Travis Walsh, Mike Terrio and Nathan Harmon.

Memphis 35
Michigan State 30

In the first 10 minutes and 30 seconds Michigan State only scored 3 points and it was an up hill battle the rest of the way in their 35-30 loss to Memphis. The Spartans found some offense as the game got going and had the lead down to 2 points with 90 seconds to go but they could not get over the hump as they dropped their first game since game one of the regular season. Memphis had six players with 5 points or more as Alex McCabe led the way with 11 points. Michigan State got a solid game from Evan Lefebvre with 13 points. Zack Warnock scored 8 points and Shayan Sobhian added 6 points.

Duke 42
Stanford 26

After dropping their first game of the season last week Duke got back to its winning ways in downing Stanford 42-26. Zack Lattimore was outstanding with 14 points. James Barry contributed 7 points while Graham Lustiber and Brian Carey each scored 6 points. Stanford did have a run in the second half as they cut a 20 point first half lead to 10 points but Duke was just too tough on this day. Michael Wilkins led Stanford with 8 points.

Indiana 27
Georgetown 22

The ever improving Indiana Hoosiers downed Georgetown 27-22. Kevin Moriarty led all scorers with 11 points. Thomas Bradley continued his solid play with 8 points. Nick Geoffroy and Derek Dodge played a key role on the defensive end along with a big rebounding day for Joe Roarke. .Georgetown was lead by Cody Nazzaro who made a big three point shot in the final segment. Dan Havenar was tough underneath with several rebounds and 4 points.

Boston College 32
UConn 14

Nathan Haded led a strong BC attack with 9 points as the Eagles defeated UConn 32-14. Sam Fontaine scored 8 points for the victors while Alex Bottomley, Paul O’Brien and Zack Ricardo played great defense. Jake Ashley led UConn with 4 points and Jensen Hall, Jake Glovin and Kevin Falco each had 2 points.


Week #5

Boston College 28
Duke 22

Boston College provided the days big upset as the Eagles upset previously undefeated Duke 28-22 in double overtime. BC was in front most of the game and appeared poised for the victory before Duke’s James Barry tied the score at 22 with two seconds to go in regulation. Nathan Haded led BC with 11 points while Jordan Reynolds scored 6 points and Sam Fontaine added 4 points. James Barry was the top man for Duke with 6 points.

Syracuse 39
Memphis State 23

Syracuse is now the only undefeated team as the Orangemen had no problem with Memphis State 39 -23. Ryan DeCoste had another stellar game with 18 points. Patrick Landrigan had a strong game with 8 points while Colin Cleary scored 5 points. Steve Gillies was impressive for Memphis State with 8 points and Alec McCabe and Dan Pho added 6 points each.

USC 29
North Carolina 25

In a close contest throughout, USC earned its second win of the year by downing North Carolina 29-25. The third quarter keyed the Trojan win as they outscored the Tar Heels 7-0 to take a 20-14 lead. The Materna boys led the way for the winners as Dan had 7 while Chris scored 4. Mason Treubey hit some outside shots for 7 points while Mike Terrio scored 6 points and John Corbett had 4 points. For North Carolina, Joe St Hillaire was outstanding down the stretch as he scored 7 of his 11 points in the last quarter while Josh Lovas did the job in the first half scoring 8 points and wound up with 10.

UCLA 37
Indiana 26

A great first half paved the way for UCLA to down Indian 37-26. The Bruins took a 23-7 lead at the break as eight Bruin players factored in the first half scoring. Derek Hill led his club with 10 points followed by 9 from Frank Desilvio and 6 from Sameer Omar. Joe Lefreniere had a solid game with 5 points while Thomas Murphy scored 3 points and Tyler Armstrong and Brian Robillard each had 2 points. Tom Bradley had a great second half for Indiana as all of his game high 11 points came after intermission. Ryan McGuigan scored 6 points and Richard Venegas had a 3 pointer to end the first half.

Georgetown 45
Louisville 35

After being down 9-6 after one quarter Georgetown turned it on in downing Louisville 45-35. Cody Nazzaro had many break away layups and led all scored with 18 points. Abishek Tripathi was also a scoring force with 12 points and Dan Havener added 5 points. Nick Sousa led Louisville with 10 points and Evan Brown scored 9 points.

Kansas 34
Stanford 20

It was the McLaughlin- Houle show for Kansas. The duo scored all 34 points as the Jayhakws took care of Stanford 34-20. Pat McLaughlin was a force down low and scored a career high 20 points. Houle also played a stellar all around game and scored 14 points. Mike Wilkins led Stanford with 8 while Joe Maniscalsco scored 6 points.

Michigan State 44
UConn 21

Michigan State took care of business quickly as they had no problem with winless UConn 44-21. Evan Lefebvre led his club with 12 points followed by 8 from Rob Massey and 6 for Zack Warnock. Kevin Falco had 6 points for UConn.


Week #4

Indiana 35
USC 30

Indiana picked up its first win of the season by downing USC 35-30. The Hoosiers got off to a fast start as they led 14-6 after one quarter and never trailed. Indiana was led by Tom Bradley with 9 points while the “Diablo Brothers” consisting of Kevin Moriarty, Joe Roarke, and Richard Vanegas all scored with 6 points each. Nathan Harmon led USC with 9 points followed by 7 from Mason Trubey and 5 from John Corbit.

Stanford 32
Memphis 30

Joe Grasso’s bucket with 8 seconds to go gave Stanford a come from behind 32-30 win over Memphis. Memphis led 28-23 with 3:30 to go before Mike Wilkins took over. The big guy had 7 of his game high 17 in the final segment to lead Stanford to the victory. Derek Cabral also stepped up big as he had another solid game with 7 points. Dan Pho scored 9 points to lead Memphis while Alex McCabe netted 8 points.

Michigan State 39
Louisville 33

Michigan State came back from a slow first quarter to defeat Louisville 39-33. The Spartans fell behind 12-4 after one and 28-20 after three before they turned in on in the final stanza. Will Duggan and Zach Warnock keyed the surged with 4 points each in the final frame., Evan Lefebvre was solid throughout as he had 17 points while Duggan had 10 and Warnock added 6 points. Shawn Callahan led Louisville with 9 followed by 8 from Nick Sousa and Connor Martin.

Syracuse 35
Boston College 23

Syracuse was in danger of dropping its first came of the season as BC was even with them at half time. In the second half it was the Ryan DeCoste show. The versatile guard had 13 of his game high 21 points in the final quarter to lead his club to the win. Chris Judge was the top man for BC with 6 points.

Duke 34
North Carolina 30

Duke was also close to dropping its first came but prevailed with a hard earned 34-30 win over North Carolina. The Tar Heels led by 5 points after 3 quarters before the Blue Devils turned it on. Kasey Ferreira was outstanding with 11 points. Duke also got great play from Zack Lattimore as he scored 9 points while Graham Lustiber added 8 points. Josh Lovas had a great game in a loosing effort scoring 11 points and Connor Tuttle added 6 points.

UCLA 32
Kansas 23

UCLA improved to 3-1 with a 32-23 win over Kansas. Derek Hill led his club with 8 points. The Bruins also got a great contribution from Frank Desilvo as he scored 6 points. Sameer Omar, Jerremy O’Donnell and Nicholas Shaw each had 4 points apiece. Tanner Houle led Kansas with 9 points while Pat McLaughlin scored 7 points.

Georgetown 27
UConn 14

Strong defense and rebounding once again was the key to the Hoyas 2nd win. Dan Havener and and Tim Cassels led the way with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Aggressive guard play by Dan Pires and Tim Havener hampered the UConn offense all game. Four quick points by Kyle Manatou sparked the offensive attack while Brendan Daly and Abishek Trepathi also contributed with 6 points each. Kevin Falco was the top man for UConn with 6 points while Shree Nadkami had 5 points.


Week #3

Duke and Syracuse are undefeated at 3-0 before the holiday break while USC enjoyed their first win of the season.

Duke 26
UCLA 18

In a battle of two undefeated teams Duke made it 3-0 with a 26-18 win over UCLA. The Blue Devils held a close 13-10 lead at the break and improved it to 22-16 after three quarters. Kasey Ferreira led a balanced Duke attack with 6 points followed by 5 from Brian Carey. Tim Saloma added 4 points and Graham Lustiber and David Dedonato had 3 points each. Derek Hill Thomas Murphy and Frank Desilvio each scored 6 points for UCLA while Jerremy O’Donnell added 4 points.

Syracuse 46
Georgetown 20

Georgetown looked strong in the first quarter as they led the explosive Orangemen 7-4 after one quarter. In the second quarter it was all Syracuse as they outscored the Hoyas 18-5 and cruised to a 46-20 victory. Syracuse had 2 players in double figures as Michael Noyes poured in 17 while Ryan Decoste was outstanding with 15. Colin Cleary also had a strong game with 7 points and a number of rebounds. Mike DiPietro led Georgetown with 7 points followed by 5 from Brendan Daly and 4 points for Abishek Tripathi.

USC 40
Stanford 19

UCC picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 40-19 win over Stanford. Mason Trubey was unstoppable in scoring 27 points on various low post moves. Chris Materna had a number of strong drives to the basket and wound up with 12 points. Derek Cabral was the top man for Stanford with 10 points while teammate Joe Grasso scored 6 points.

Michigan State 38
North Carolina 29

The Spartans made it 2-1 by stopping North Carolina 38-29. North Carolina actually led 17-15 at halftime but a big third quarter keyed the Michigan State win as they outscored the Tar Heels 14-4. Zack Warnock led Michigan State with 10 points followed by 8 from Kyle Smith and Evan Lefebvre. Rob Massey had another solid game with 6 points and Will Duggan added 4 points. Joeseph St. Hillaire was impressive in a loosing effort with 11 points while Josh Lovas scored 9 points.

Memphis 42
Boston College 23

After coming up short last week Memphis got their offense back as they outscored Boston College 42-23. Alex McCabe and Dan Pho were both outstanding as McCabe netted 11 points while Pho was tough down low and scored 10 points. Siyuan Ma and Nick Bain were also instrumental in the win as the two scored 6 points each. Nathen Haded and Nick Vogler led BC with 6 points apiece.

Kansas 27
Indiana 21

Kansas outscored Indiana 8-2 in the third quarter as the Jayhawks took a 27-21 victory. Pat McLaughlin scored 4 of his 11 points in the third quarter while Tanner Houle was solid throughout the game with 10 points. Eric You also played well with 3 points. Tom Bradley had a fine game for Indiana with 6 of his 8 points in the second half and Joe Roark scored 7 points.

Louisville 47
UConn 21

It was too much Louisville in the second half as a 13-13 tie at halftime ended up 47-21 for the Cardinals. Shawn Callahan was a main reason why as he scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half to key the victory. Evan Brown scored 10 points while Nick Sousa and Connor Martin had 4 points. Kevin Falco led UConn with 6 points while brother Jeff and James Lyons scored 4 points each.


Week #2

Michigan State 22
Boston College 14

Michigan State took a 6-0 first quarter lead and never trailed in route to a 22-14 victory. Even Lefebvre and Zack Warnock led the charge for the Spartans with 6 points each. Michigan State also got a big hoop from Shayan Sobian in the 4th quarter to seal the first win of the season.

Georgetown 32
Memphis 18

Cody Nazzaro scored 8 points to lead Georgetown past Memphis 32-18. The Hoyas played tight D in the first half holding Memphis to only 4 points while the offence put up 13 points. Abishek Tripath, Tim Cassels and Mike DiPietro all had solid games with 6 points each while Brendan Daly played tough defense and ripped off 9 rebounds. Stephen Gilles led Memphis with 4 points.

Stanford 21
Indiana 18

Despite not scoring in the first and last quarters Stanford managed 21-18 victory over Indiana. Indiana led 6-0 after one quarter before Stanford came roaring back to take a 14-12 halftime lead. The winners improved the lead to 21-16 after 3 and held on the win. Derek Cabral had 3 hoops in the big second quarter for 6 points. Mike Wilkins controlled the boards and added 5 points while Stephen Sarault and Alex Paroyian added 4 points. Andrew Knightly and Kevin Moriarty each had 4 points for Indiana.

UCLA 25
North Carolina 15

UCLA improved to 2-0 with an impressive 25-15 win over 1-1 North Carolina. UCLA’s play in the second quarter keyed the win as they outscored North Carolina 12-2. Thomas Murphy was a one man wrecking crew scoring 17 points. Derek Hill slashed his way for 6 points while Jeremy O’Donnell added one basket. Connor Tuttle had a solid game for North Carolina with 8 points and Josh Lovas had 3 points.

Syracuse 42
UConn 11

UConn simply had no answer for Ryan Decoste .The do it all guard had a game 18 points as Syracuse had an easy 42-11 victory over UConn. Bernard Sou tossed in 7 points while Patrick Landrigan and Colin Cleary also had big games with 6 points each.

Duke 40
Kansas 25

Duke was impressive once again this week in downing Kansas 40-25. Point guard David DeDonato led the way with 12 points followed by 10 from James Barry while Graham Lustiber and Kasey Ferreira each had 4 points. Kansas which fell to 1-1 got a great game from Tanner Houle with 10 points followed by 6 from Patrick McLaughlin and 4 from Dan Nolan.


Week #1

Kansas 27 - USC 24
In a tight defensive battle Kansas got by USC 27-24. The Trojans led 7-4 after one quarter but the Jayhawks took control in the second for a 14-13 halftime lead. Tanner Houle keyed the surged with 6 of his game high 12 points. Kansas held a slim 2 point margin after 3 quarters ( 21-19) and held on for the last few minutes to take an opening day victory. Pat McLaughlin was immense on the boards and added 6 points while Max Shinnick scored 6 points as well. Mason Trubey and Chris Materna led USC with 8 points each while John Corbett helped out with 6 points.

Boston College 30 - Georgetown 21
With 3 minutes to go in the second quarter Boston College trailed Georgetown 7-0. The Eagles finally woke up and took a 20-17 lead after 3 quarters in route to a 30-21 victory. Jordan Reynolds keyed the surge as he slashed his was for 12 points. Zack Ricardo had all 8 of his points in the second half and Alex Bottomly and Nathan Haded did a big job on the defensive end. Dan Havener and Tim Cassels led Georgetown with 6 points apiece while Abishek Tripathi had 4 points.

UCLA 20 - UConn 19
UConn's great second half comeback fell just short as UCLA survived with a 20-19 victory. The Bruins jumped out to a double digit lead in the first half lead by Thomas Murphy and Tyler Armstrong's six points each. The Huskies came roaring back in the second half, holding UCLA to two points and getting a strong game from Jake Ashley, who scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. UConn received offensive contributions from Jeff Falco (4 points), Shree Nadkarni (2 points), James Lyons (2 points) and Kevin Falco (1 point and multiple assists). Jensen Hall helped Ashley on the boards with six rebounds. UCLA received balance scoring from Sameer Omar, Jeremy O'Donnell, Frank Desilvio and Derek Hill, all chipping in two points.

North Carolina 32 - Stanford 21
The Tar Hells outscored Stanford 11-1 in the second quarter and went on cruise control for a 32-21 victory. Joshua Lovas, Joe St. Hilaire, Connor Tuttle, Paul Smith and Ben Hilman all figured prominently in the scoring. Derek Cabrall, Mike Wilkins and Austin Collias were the top scorers for Stanford.

Syracuse 34 - Michigan State 23
Ryan Decoste had a great opening game with 17 points in leading the Orangemen past Michigan State 34-23. Colin Cleary also had a fine opening game with 4 points. Evan Lefebvre led Michigan State with 6 points followed by 4 from Zack Warnock and 3 from Cameron Burns.

Duke 38 - Indiana 15
The most impressive team on the day may have been Duke as the Blue Devils had their way with Indiana in posting a 38-15 win. David DeDonato controlled the offensive with a couple of baskets and multiples assists. Jim Barry and Steve Richards were the the top scorer with 8 points followed by 7 from Kasey Ferreira and 6 from Danny Reynolds. Ryan McGuigan scored 4 points for Indiana.

Memphis 38 - Louisville 24
Memphis defeated an undermanned Louisville team 38-24. With only 6 players Louisville got tired and Memphis took advantage by outscoring them 14-5 in the third quarter. Alex McCabe had a solid game with 9 points followed by 8 from Dan Pho and 7 from Siyuan Ma. Brett Dery scored 6 for Louisville while Conn Martin had 5 points and Shawm Callahan added Steve McDonalald contributed 4 points each.

2006-07 Season Game Summaries

Week #10

In the final week of the regular season Georgetown (Big East Champion) and Maryland (ACC Champion) improved to 9-1 while Syracuse won its second in a row and Cincinnati outlasted Notre Dame for its 7th win of the season in CYBL Junior Boys action.

The junior boys all-star team made it to the finals of the Westford Tournament, but lost to host Westford in the championship game.

Georgetown 41 - North Carolina 25

In a game that was close right through the third quarter, Georgetown got hot when it counted and pulled away for a 41-25 win. Georgetown’s Tony Mazzeo led the way with 15, but also had his best defensive game, with 4 steals and numerous stops. Spyros Antoniou also had a stellar defensive game, tossing a clean shut-out at the boys he guarded. Rob Massey came alive as a ball-handler, handing out three key assists in crunch time. Dan Aker controlled the pace of the game for the Hoyas, scoring 9 points and handing out 8 assists. Big men Drew Loiselle and Mike Moriarty both played well defensively and scored 11 and 3 respectively. Mike Solomonides, fresh off his appearance at the Westford Invitational All-Star Tournament, led the Tar Heels with 14, and Ryan Decoste chipped in with 4.

Maryland 41 - Duke 38

Maryland closed out its regular season with a hard fought come from behind victory over Duke, 41-38. Maryland's Bobby Mountcastle, continued to be among the leagues top scorers with 14 points including 6 in the final stanza. Alex Hurd had 8 points to open the pivotal second half, bringing Maryland back from a seven point deficit and finished with 14 points. Westford All Star Anthony Andre was immense on the boards and added 8 points to the cause. Connor Martin (4 points) and Terrence Turney (2 points) aided in the offense while Brian Robillard, Shree Nadkarni and Mike Kelley were stellar on defense. The athletic Duke team led throughout the game. Their balanced attack was paced by Westford All Star Brian Rose's 8 points. Nick Glovin (6 points), Jeff Falco (5 points), Ishaen Goel (5 points), Brian Perry (4 points), Justin Hennessey (4 points) and Doug Calenda (4 points) all contributed to Duke's lightning quick offense.

Syracuse 49 - Clemson 45

The regular season finale for Syracuse ended on a positive note with a hard fought 49-45 victory over Clemson. Syracuse led from the start and had a 25-18 half time lead. Clemson kept it close, but it was too much Adam Barooshian. The Syracuse top scorer could be stopped as he pumped in 20 points. Tanner Houle also had a solid game with 9 points. Clemson was led offensively by Tom Martin with 16 points, and David Shaw with 12 points.

Cincinnati 32 - Notre Dame 30

Trailing at the end of the first 3 quarters, Cincinnati came on strong in the 4th to defeat Notre Dame by a score of 32-30. Notre Dame started out strong with a 10-2 run to open the first quarter and maintained a 20-14 lead at the half. Notre Dame still held a 22-20 lead at the end of the 3rd but Cincinnati clawed their way back into the game in the 4th, outscoring ND 12-8 and held on in the final seconds for the victory. Cincinnati's Drew McLoon was the game-high scorer with 23 while Patrick Doherty, Steve Richards and Nick Sousa played well defensively. Dan Richards and Mike Ferreira were strong under the hoop. For Notre Dame, Jake Higson (10) and Mike Hansbury (8) led the way in scoring. Higson also grabbed several rebounds while Steve Buckley and Tim Callahan played well on defense.

Marquette 41 - Miami 35

Marquette was able to hold off a tough Miami team to notch a 41-35 victory in the last regular season game. Marquette saw their halftime lead of 24-12 almost disappear due to Miami's full court press. Miami had the lead down to a mere 2 points with only 3:30 left in the game at 33-31, but Marquette was able to protect the ball and the lead in the final minutes led once again by Jimmy Travaglini's 14 points and a strong game from Mason Trubey who had 8 points and some big rebounds. No lead appeared safe in this one however as Miami kept turning to Andrew Jaquint with 17 points whenever they needed a big hoop and Joseph Garcia's superior ball handling and strong drives to the hoop to provide a solid 10 points.

Wake Forest 22 - UConn 17

In a defensive battle that was close through the entire game, Wake Forest defeated UConn for its 6TH victory of the season. Wake Forest held a small lead at half time of 11-10 and 16-13 after three quarters. Wake Forest was led by Beaufort Pyram with 8 points and Chris Materna with 5 points. Brian Trudel and Jacob Christensen both chipped in with 4 points each. Bob DiFronzo and Kyle Burke played great defensive and dominated the boards. Anthony Spaziani led Uconn with 6 points and Lee Burgess had 4 points. Mark Daly also had 4 points and played great press defense throughout the game.

Boston College 24 - Providence 23

Boston College defeated a game but undermanned Providence squad 24-23 in a game that wasn’t decided until the final buzzer. With the win, Boston College finishes the regular season with a 6-4 record. Despite only having 6 players, Providence played inspired basketball throughout the game. Providence was led by Matt Lubo’s 11 points, Michael Wilkins 4 points, and Dan Havenor’s 4 points. Heading into the final quarter it looked good for Providence as they had a 23-17 advantage. Boston College was kept in the game by sharp-shooting Anthony Donahue who led the team with 8 points. In the deciding fourth quarter, Brian Bottari (5 points) and Dan Phillips (3 points) led the way for Boston College’s 7-0 fourth quarter finish. Arjun Balaji (4 points), Michael Kelly (2 points), and Nathan Harman (2 points) all contributed some key hoops for Boston College. For Providence, Peter Lawler and Eric Yu each had 2 points while Zach Desmaires played excellent defense.

Westford Tournament

The Chelmsford Junior Boys All Star team came up just short in winning the Westford Tournament as they fell in the championship game to host Westford, 44-38. Chelmsford held a slim 25-22 lead at half-time only to see Westford hold the advantage in the second half. With three minutes to go Chelmsford trailed 38-35 before Drew Loiselle pumped in his third three pointer of the game to tie the score at 38. That was the last points for Chelmsford as Westford scored the games final 6 points to win the championship. Loiselle was outstanding with 17 points while Drew McLoon also came up big with 10 points. Mike Solomonides , Jake Higson, Michael Hansbury , Brian Rose , Bobby Mountcastle each scored 2 points each while Jim Travaglini completed the scoring for Chelmsford with 1 point.

In the semi final game against Hudson, NH coaches Bobby Hansbury and Brian Duffey had the club ready to go as Chelmsford jumped out early and led 15-5 and 27-16 at half-time . In the second half Hudson dominated early and often and eventually took the lead at 39-38. In the final 6 minutes it was all Chelmsford , outscoring the opposition 11-3 , for a convincing win over Hudson 50-41.

Chelmsford was led by the outstanding guard play of McLoon who led both teams in scoring with 12 points. Nine other players scored for Chelmsford as Loiselle scored 8 points, Hansbury, Higson and Tom Komow each scored 6 points. Rose contributed 4 points while Jacob Christensen added 3 points and David Shaw and Solomoides had 2 points and Travaglini picked up one point. Mountcastle and Anthony Andre also played effectively in Chelmsford’s victory.

Week #9

Maryland 49 - Notre Dame 45 (OT)

Although it was a regular season game Saturday's Maryland and Notre Dame battle felt very much like a championship playoff game. It took 2 minutes of overtime but Maryland improved to 8-1 with a heart stopping 49-45 victory. The Fighting Irish led 35-29 after 3 quarters and 39-36 with 3:30 to go. In the final segment All Star guard Bobby Mountcastle would not be denied as he scored 9 points in the final quarter of which 5 came in the final segment to send the game into overtime. In the overtime his All Star teammate took over as Anthony Andre scored two quick baskets and Maryland clinched the ACC title. Andre has his career game with 27 points. Mountcastle followed with 13 while Terrance Turney scored 5 points and Alex Hurd had 4 points. For Notre Dame, All Star Jake Higson was a low post force with 20 points. Mike Hansbury and Steve Buckey both had 7 points while Dan Pho and Nick Bain scored 4 points.

Georgetown 37 - Marquette 36

After dropping its first game of the regular season last week Georgetown was on the verge of its second lost is a row as Marquette led 34-28 with 3:30 to go. Great players take over in crunch time and that's exactly what All Star Drew Loiselle did as he scored his teams last 9 points including the game winner with 25 seconds to go to give Georgetown a 37-36 victory. Point guard Dan Aker had his usual solid game with 8 points. Dan Huntington added 4 points but the key might have been the play of Tom Bradley. Besides scoring 5 points the 7th grader was tenacious on defense along with picking up numerous rebounds. Marquette got 16 from All Star guard Jimmy Travaglini and 14 from All Star center Tom Komow.

Syracuse 32 - Cincinnati 30

In one of the biggest upsets of the season Syracuse picked up their second win of the year with a 32-30 win over Cincinnati. This game was close throughout as it was tied 14-14 at half time. In the third quarter the Orangemen outscored the Bearcats by one point and did the same in the final quarter to pull off the win. Adam Baroshian was dominant for Syracuse with 16 points including two clutch baskets in the final quarter. Tanner Houle, despite playing with an injury had all of his 6 points in the final quarter. Alex Lin and Joe Roark both had 4 points. Oliver Farren had a big defensive game with a couple of blocked shots and many key rebounds. Evan Brown and Danny Reynolds were standouts on defense along with Connor Schille and Phil Lane. Nick Sousa led Cincinnati with 11 points and Drew McLoon scored 10 points.

Wake Forest 46 - Boston College 37

After getting destroyed in week 8 Wake Forest was a different team in week 9 as then ran past Boston College 46-37. All Star Center Jake Cristensen was to tough inside for BC as he dropped in 25 points of which 10 came in the final quarter. Chris Materna was a key player for Wake with 11 points. Kyle Burke scored 4 while Brian Trudel (number of great passes) and Anthoni Anoli scored 3 points. Dan Phillips led BC with 12 points while Brian Bottari and Anthony Donahue scored 8 points each.

Duke 31 - Clemson 19

Both Duke and Clemson entered Saturday's contest looking to go over .500 for the season and with Clemson running off the first eight points of the game it looked like they were going to walk away with the victory. Led by Dave Shaw's eight first half points and the defense in the middle of Greg Houle, Clemson controlled the tempo for the first quarter and was holding on to a three point lead at halftime by playing a determined half court offense. In the second half Duke's pressing defense and fast break offense wore down the understaffed Clemson team and for the second week in a row the Blue Devils rebounded from a half time deficit to win the game going away 31-19 Both Nick Glovin and Brian Rose scored six second half points to lead the Blue Devils in scoring. This scoring, along with defensive pressure by Justin Hennessey (who also scored six points) and Brian Perry resulted in the impressive comeback.

Miami 47 - UConn 21

If you want to see a team on the rise look no father then Miami. The Hurriances won their second game in a row in convincing fashion as they routed UConn 47-21. Miami 11-2 after one quarter and 26-8 at half time. Sam Scrivani had another dominant game with 18 points. Rob Whitaker had 8 while Andre Jaquint and Alex McCabe netted 6 points each. UConn was led by the dependable Anthony Spaziani with 12 points.

North Carolina 43 - Providence 27

In the final game of the night North Carolina proved to much for Providence as they picked up a 43-27 win. The Tar Heels were relentless in the first half as they held Providence to just 5 points while scoring 23. All Star guard Mike Solomonides led all scorers with 15 points. Alex Pryzbylowicz had 11 and Derek Cabral added 9 points. Kyle Chagon also played well in the big win and scored one basket. Matt Lubao led Providence with 9 and Michael Wilkins scored 8 points.

Week #8

Boston College 43 - North Carolina 38

Boston College won its fifth game of the season with a 43-38 win over a very good North Carolina squad. The game went back and forth throughout the first half as neither squad could gain the advantage and the half ended in an 18-18 tie. Dan Phillips of B.C. scored 6 of his 8 points during the exciting first half and Mike Solomonides scored 12 of his game high 20 points for North Carolina. Boston College outscored North Carolina 14 -8 in the third quarter sparked by Brian Bottari who scored 6 of his team high 12 points during the frame. B.C. in the frame by two hoops from Will Duggan and a nice fast break hoop by Bobby Hoffman off a nice pass from Mike Kelly (7 points). North Carolina kept coming back throughout the fourth quarter as Alex Pryzbylowicz was tireless off the boards and scored 6 of his 12 points. In the end, B.C. had enough to hold on as Anthony Donohue (8 points) led the offensive charge. Nathan Harman (2 points), Arjun Balaji, and Lyndon Langhorne also played well for B.C. in their best overall team performance of the season.

Maryland 33 - Georgetown 26

Maryland upset previously unbeaten Georgetown in a hard fought contest 33-26. Maryland jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead headed by the strong guard play of Alex Hurd (5 points) and leading scorer Bobby Mountcastle (16 points). Georgetown cut the lead to one at the start of the second half before Maryland pulled away. Michael Kelley had a big day under the hoop scoring 6 points and Shree Nadkarni was solid with 4 points. Connor Martin and Anthony Andre once again lead Maryland in rebounding with 7 apiece. Maryland's aggressive man to man team defense was lead by Brian Robillard, Andrew Lloyd and Terrance Turney. Westford All Star Drew Loiselle had 10 points including two three pointers to spearhead the Hoyas attack. Georgetown also received scoring from Danny Aker (7 points), Tony Mazzeo (5 points), Mike Moriarty (2 pts) and Dan Huntington (2 pts). Tom Bradley and Spiros Antoniou were tough under the boards for Georgetown who also received great defense from Charlie Marcotte and Robby Massey.

Duke 38 - Marquette 34

For the second week in a row Duke had to fight back from a half time deficit to pull out a win. Marquette, led in the first half by the scoring trio of Jimmy Travaglini (13 points), Tom Komow (10 points) and Gerard Eastman (4 points), entering halftime with a 17-8 lead. Duke was able to come within one point of the lead in the third. Led by Brian Rose's 8 third quarter points (13 total) Duke climbed back into the game. The fourth quarter opened with Marquette hanging on to a one point lead, 24-23. In the fourth quarter it was Jeff Falco's turn to lead Duke (8 points in the fourth, 11 total) in the hotly contested game.

Cincinnati 33 - UConn 23

Cincinnati prevailed over a persistent UConn squad, 33-23. Cincinnati was up 19-10 at the half when UConn came out strong in the 2nd half, closing to within a 6 point margin late in the 4th quarter. Cincinnati was bolstered down the stretch with strong offensive rebounding by Dan Richards and Mike Ferreira resulting in key baskets. This was a hard fought contest with good up and down action and tight defensive coverage on both sides. Scoring leaders for Cincinnati were Drew McLoon (9), Mike Ferreira (8) and Nick Sousa (6). Evan Lefebvre and Chris Shephard also contributed to the scoring. Patrick Doherty and Steve Richards played well defensively. For UConn, Brendon Daley (7) and John Pasciuto (6) and Charles Hirbour (4) led the way. Josh Shiau, Josh Lovas and Lee Burgess played well defensively for UConn.

Clemson 37 - Providence 27

Clemson won their second game in a row in a hard fought battle with Providence. Providence held the lead at the half, 14-11. But Clemson, lately the team of the second half, got some big offense from Mike Noyes with 6 pts. Westford All-Star David Shaw scored 10, and Tom Martin had 12, all in the second half, and stifling defense from Andrew Baker. Providence was led offensively by Pete Lawlor with 8 points and Mike Wilkins with 6 points. Dan Havener and Stephan MacDonald played well defensively for Providence.

Week #7

Georgetown 40 – Notre Dame 23

Going into the game undefeated Georgetown figured they would be in for a battle against once beaten Notre Dame. It was exactly that in the first half as the Hoyas held a one point advantage 18-17. In the second half it was all Georgetown as they outscored the Fighting Irish 27-17 in the third and ran away with a convincing 40-23 victory. Westford All Star forward Drew Loiselle took over in the third scoring 6 of his game high 17 points. Mike Moriarty was a big factor in the win with 8 points Tony Mazzeo came up with 6 points each while Dan Aker had 5 points and Kevin Moriarty helped out with 4 points. Outstanding defense was played by Spyros Antoniou and Tom Bradley. Jake Higson (Westford All Star) led Notre Dame with 12 points.

Maryland 29 – Cincinnati 25

After dropping their opening game Maryland has not lost. On Saturday they took another victory downing Cincinnati 29-25. This contest was close throughout as Maryland led 17-16 at the break and 23-20 after three quarters. Westford All Star guard Bobby Mountcastle was the major factor in Maryland’s win as he netted 16 points. His fellow All Star team mate Anthony Andre scored all of his 6 points in the first half while Alex Hurd had 5 points and Connor Martin added 3 points. Cincinnati’s All Star guard Drew McLoon had 10 points but was shut down in the final quarter. Daniel Richards scored 6 points and Michael Ferreira had 2 baskets for 4 points.

Wake Forest 38 – North Carolina 37

After getting nipped by undefeated Georgetown a week ago Wake Forest had another tough customer in once beaten North Carolina. This time Wake was on the winning end of a close encounter as they got by NC 38-37. Wake Forest got off to a good start as they led 12 -4 after one quarter and 21 to 11 at halftime. North Carolina kept chipping away at the lead but fell just short of another victory. Wake Forest got a great performance from Suhail Omar with 11 points. All Star center Jacob Christensen had another solid game with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Brian Trudel and Chris Materna each chipped in with 6 points and Anthony Anoli hit two clutch free throws late in the game for Wake Forest. Mike Solomonides(Westford All Star) led North Carolina with 10 points. Alex Przbylowicz had 8 and Derek Cabral had 4 points for the Tar Heals.

UConn 37 – Providence 21

After a number of close defeats UConn registered its first win as they ran away with a 37-21 victory over Providence. At halftime it was all tied up at 14. In the third quarter the Huskies improved their led to 6 points as they led 25-19. Providence would only make one basket the rest of the way while UConn’s offence was impressive. Josh Lovas led his club with 10 points. Lee Burgess had all of his 8 points in the first half. UConn received great contributions from Mark and Brendon Daly, Tom Pasciuto, Chris Spaziani, Nick Melisi, Josh Shiau and Charles Hirbour. Matt Lubao had 6 points fro Providence while Thomas Murphy and Michael Wilkins had 4 points each.

Clemson 36 – Boston College 23

Clemson stopped a 4 game loosing streak with a 36-23 victory over Boston College. Clemson led by just one point at halftime 16-15. The Tigers got a huge game from Nick Davis as he scored 10 of his game high 14 points in the 2nd half. Clemson’s other big man, Greg Houle also played well, adding 6 points and numerous blocked shots. Contributing on the key defensive side of the ball were Jerry Taddeo and Connor Tuttle. BC was led offensively by Anthony Donahue with 8 points, Dan Phillips with 6 pts and Brian Bottari with 4 points.

Duke 47 – Miami 35

After holding Duke scoreless in the second quarter Miami was feeling good leading 19-15 at halftime. The halftime break worked out well for the Blue Devils as they outscored Miami 18-2 in the third and went on to a 47-35 victory. Nick Glovin had 6 of his 7 points in the big third quarter. Doug Calenda led his team with 10 points of which 4 came in the third quarter and 6 more in the final quarter. Brian Perry also had two buckets in the third and wound up with 8 points while and Jeff Falco also scored 8 points and All Star Brian Rose had 7 points. Ishann Goel and Justin Hennessey contributed one basket each. Andrew Jaquint led Miami with 11 points while Sam Scrivani had 9 and Joe Garcia scored 6 points.

Marquette 53 – Syracuse 43

Clearly the most improved player in the league is Marquette center Tom Komow. The All Star big guy was unstoppable in Marquette’s 53 – 43 win over Syracuse. The six footer scored 25 points. His fellow all star teammate also had a big game as guard Jimmy Travaglini scored 14 points. Gerard Eastman had a solid game with 6 points. Tanner Houle was great for Syracuse with 14 points while guard Adam Baroshian had another impressive game with 13 points while Connor Schille had 7 points.

Week #6

Georgetown needed a big second half comeback to stay undefeated. North Carolina, Maryland, Cincinnati and Notre Dame improved to 5-1 while Providence picked up its first win of the season.

Georgetown 41 - Wake Forest 40

Trailing 26-17 at halftime Wake Forest looked in good shape to send Georgetown to its first defeat of the season. The Hoyas however showed why they are the team to beat as they came back to defeat Wake Forest 41-40. Drew Loiselle was immense as the high scoring big man pumped in 12 of his 15 points in the second half. Guard Dan Aker continued his solid play with 9 points and Tony Mazzeo had 6 including 4 points in the pivotal final 3:30 of the game. The victors also got strong defensive play and a big basket by Charlie Marcotte. Wake Forest guard Beufort Pyram used great penetration moves to lead his club with 14 points. Chris Materna had 6 points and Shail Omar scored 6 points.

North Carolina 41 - Clemson 26

A huge fourth quarter propelled North Carolina over Clemson 41-26. The Tar Heels led 25-22 going into the final quarter. In the last 7 minutes it was all NC as they outscored Clemson 14-4 to improve to 5-1. Center Alex Pryzblowicz keyed the final surge with 8 of his game high 16 points. Mike Solomonides made some beautiful passes and scored 10 points while Derek Cabral also put up 10 points and Ryan DeCoste added 5 points. Tom Martin had a bid offensive game for Clemson with 14 points and Zack Fumina scored 4 points.

Maryland 38 - Miami 28

Maryland kept pace with North Carolina in the ACC by downing Miami 38-28. The Terpains also had a big fourth quarter as they outscored Miami 17-8 in picking up their 5th win of the year. Alex Hurd had his best offensive game of the year as the athletic swingman scored 13 points of which 10 came in the third quarter. Guard Bobby Mountcastle scored 9 points and Anthony Andre added 8 points. Solo baskets went to Connor Martin, Andre Lloyd, Shree Nadkarni and Terrance Turney. Sam Scrivani led Miami with 9 points followed by 6 points from Alec McCabe and 4 from Joe Garcia.

Cincinnati 33 - Duke 22

Cincinnati scored the games first 13 points and it was game set and match in their 33-22 win over Duke. Michael Ferreira scored the first 6 points (8 points total) and Drew McLoon the next 7.( 13 points total) Nick Sousa also added to the scoring parade with 6 points. Dan Richards, Patrick Doherty and Evan Lefebve had 2 points each as Cincinnati improved to 5-1. Doug Calenda and Nick Glovin both scored 8 points for Duke which to their credit made it an interesting game after a poor start.

Notre Dame 36 - Marquette 29

Notre Dame also made it 5-1 on the season after taking care of Marquette 36-29. Center Jake Higson used his aggressiveness to score 11 points. Mike Hansbury helped out with 8 points. Tim Callahan helped the cause with 6 points and Steve Buckley contributed 4 points. Marquette guard Jimmy Travagline led his club with 13 points while center Tom Komow had 10 points.

Providence 41 - Syracuse 29

Providence earned their first win of the season after downing Syracuse 41-29. Providence took a 9-4 first quarter lead and improved the margin by a bucket in the second quarter as they had a 21-14 lead. In the second half the Friars dominated the boards and scored on a number of fast break baskets. Tom Murphy had a solid game with a game high 14 points. Center Matt Lubao came up big with 12 points. Michael Wilkins and Eric Yu put up 4 points while Zack DesMarais, Dan Havener and Peter Lawlor scored two points each. Stephan MacDonald and Zachary Newell contributed greatly in holding Syracuse to only 24 points. Tanner Houle had a great came in defeat with 15 points and Connor Schille had 9 points.

Boston College 38 - UConn 32

UConn came close to getting its first win of the season but pesky BC held on to take a 38-32 victory. BC led 34-32 with 3:30 to play and got some big buckets down the stretch to gain their 4th win of the year. Anthony Donahue had his outside came going as he scored 14 points. Dan Phillips, Michael Kelly and Brian Bottari each scored 6 points. Chris Spaziani and Jake Lovas played solid for UConn and both netted 8 points apiece.

Week #5

In week 5 of the Junior Boys division Georgetown continued its dominance by winning its 5th straight and is on top of the Big East Division. North Carolina and Maryland improved to 4-1 to lead the ACC division while Miami picked up its first victory.

Georgetown 35 – Clemson 24

Georgetown remained undefeated after downing Clemson 35-24. The 5-0 Hoyas were in control throughout as Tony Mazzeo scored the games first 6 points. Mazzeo led his club for the second week in a row with 10 points. Point guard Dan Aker had another solid game with 7 points including a 3 pointer while Mike Moriarty scored 6 points. Dave Shaw led Clemson with 6 points while Nick Davis contributed 4 points.

North Carolina 43 – Marquette 36

Marquette scored the games first 7 points against North Carolina but that was before Mike Solomonides got into the game. The lightening quick guard scored 8 of his game high 20 points in the first quarter to lead the Tar Heels to a 43-36 win over Marquette. The third quarter was the key to the came as the winners outscored Marquette 17-8. Center Alex Pryzblowicz led the onslaught with 5 of his 11 points. Ryan DeCoste had 4 of his 6 points in the big quarter while Derek Cabral also had 2 hoops in the 3’rd quarter and wound up with 6 points as well. Tom Komow was sensational in a loosing effort as the big guy had 16 points. James Travaglini added 8 and Noah Jackson scored 4 points.

Boston College 31 – Duke 30

In the days closest game Boston College won for the second week in a row with a 31-30 win over Duke. Due was in control in the first quarter as they led 11-5 but after 3 segments it was tied at 23. Once again the Blue Devils stepped in front as they had a narrow 29-25 lead with 3:30 to go. In the final section Anthony Donahue scored a big basket(6 points total) while Danny Phillips did the big damage with 4 of his 12 points in the final frame including the game winning basket. Will Duggan and Brian Bottari each had 4 points to help BC improve to 3-2. Brian Rose led Duke with 8 points. Nick Glovin added 6 points and Doug Calenda scored 5 points.

Miami 49 – Syracuse 24

After a number of hard luck loses Miami had an easy time with Syracuse in posting a 49-24 victory. Miami do it all guard Sam Scrivani had another stellar game with 17 points to lead his club to its first win of the year. A number of other players had came up big for Miami as Rob Whitaker scored 10 points, Sam Fontaine added 8 points while Joseph Garcia and Alec McCabe scored 6 points each. Michael Terrio and Andre Antonitis also played well for Miami. Adam Barooshian was Syracuse’s main offensive weapon with 14 points while Tanner Houle scored 4 points.

Notre Dame 40 – Wake Forest 33

The Fighting Irish took a 21-8 first quarter lead over Wake Forest and cruised to a 40-33 victory. Steve Buckley got Notre Dame going in the first quarter with 7 of his game high 17 points. Mike Hansbury had 3 foul shots and 2 hoops for 7 points. Nick Bain had a solid game with 6 points and Jake Higson controlled the boards and scored 5 points. Jacob Christensen continued his solid play with 10 points to lead Wake Forest while Brent Torigian added 6 points.

Maryland 34 – UConn 29

It may have not been an artistic beauty but Maryland improved to 4-1 with a hard earned 34-29 win over UConn. The Huskies led 13-9 at the break before Maryland took control in the third quarter as they outscored the Huskies by 7 to take a 23-20 lead. Bobby Mountcastle was too much for UConn as the Maryland guard drove to the basket for 20 points. Alex Hurd scored all of his 7 points in the second half and Michael Kelly scored 4 points. Lee Burgess led UConn with 7 points, Mark Daly followed with 6 and Chris Spaziani had 4 and Josh Shiau had 3 points.

Cincinnati 35 – Providence 25

Include Providence as one of the many teams who have not had an answer for Drew McLoon. The nifty Cincinnati guard did it all with 21 points to lead his club to a 35-25 win over Providence. Nick Sousa had 5 points and Michael Ferreira and Dan Richards scored 4 each. Tom Murphy and Matt Lubao both had strong games for Providence with 9 points each while Michael Wilkins was solid with 4 points.

Week #4

North Carolina, Wake Forest, Maryland, Notre Dame and Cincinnati all improved to 3-1 while Georgetown is perfect after 4 weeks in the Junior Boys division.

North Carolina 35 – Duke 32

For the second game in a row North Carolina needed to go into overtime. Once again they prevailed in the extra session as the Tar Heels got by Duke 35-32. The Blue Devils led 17-10 at half time as they held NC scoreless in the second quarter. North Carolina big man Alex Pryzbylowicz led his club in the second half as he scored 16 of his game high 18 points. One of those was a foul shot in overtime while guard Michael Solomonides provided the winning basket in OT. Solomonides also had a fine game with 12 points while Derek Cabral had 3 points and Ryan DeCoste had one basket. Doug Calenda was the key man for Duke with 12 points while Brian Rose chipped in with 8 points.

Wake Forest 34 – Marquette 33

In a battle of 2-1 teams it was Wake Forest who got their third win with a 34-33 nail bitter over Marquette. Marquette appeared heading for victory but Chris Materna scored late in the game to give Wake the victory. Jacob Christensen had another solid game with 10 points to lead the victors. Brent Torigian added 8 points while Kyle Burke, Beufort Pyram and Brian Trudel helped out with 4 points each. Marquette center Tom Komow had 12 points including 6 points in the last quarter. Jimmy Travaglini added 6 points and Jordan Reynolds and Gerard Eastman each scored 4 points.

Georgetown 42 – UConn 31

Georgetown made it a perfect 4-0 with a 42-31 victory over winless Uconn. Anthony Mazzeo had a career game for the Hoyas. Mazzeo could not be stopped underneath as he powered his way to 17 points and numerous rebounds. Drew Loiselle had another solid game with 10 points followed by 7 from Dan Aker and 6 from Mike Moriarty. Lee Burgess played extremely well for UConn and wound up with 12 points while Jake Lovas added 6 points.

Notre Dame 33 – Providence 25

Notre Dame earned a hard fought 33-25 victory over Providence. The Fighting Irish were in control at halftime as they led 16-6. Providence however showed a lot of heart as they outscored Notre Dame 15-5 in the third quarter to tie up the contest. In the final quarter it was too much Notre Dame. Mike Hansbury paced the Notre Dame attack with 8 points. Dan Pho netted 6 points, followed by 5 from Steve Buckley and 4 from Jake Higson. Thomas Murphy had a big game for Providence with 8 points. Peter Lawlor was steady with 5 points and Stephen MacDonald and Daniel Havener added 4 points each.

Boston College 47 – Syracuse 43

Boston College outlasted a game Syracuse squad 47-43 in a game that wasn’t decided until the last few seconds. When Boston College jumped to a quick 6-0 lead on the back of Anthony Donahue’s hot shooting (12 points in the game), it appeared that they would roll to their second victory. Syracuse however fought back to tie the game and even took the lead briefly later in the first quarter as Connor Schille set up several nice baskets for the Orangemen. B.C. rode the strong inside play of Michael Kelly (8 points) and the outside shooting of Nathan Harman (8 points) to a 19-14 half-time lead. The Eagles threatened to run away with it when they hit Syracuse with a 13-2 run to start the half but Syracuse fought back to tie the game at 35 behind the one-two punch of Adam Barooshian (12 points) and Tanner Houle (14 points). The game see-sawed back and forth until B.C.’s Brian Bottari scored 5 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and Dan Phillips had a huge three point play. Boston College’s Will Duggan provided two huge jump shots during the game while Bobby Hoffman and Lyndon Langhorne played tough defense.

Cincinnati 53 – Miami 44

Cincinnati improved to 3-1 in a high scoring 53-44 victory over Miami. The teams were even after the first quarter at 11 each before Cincinnati pulled ahead to lead 29-16 at the half. Miami battled back to within 5 with a strong 3rd quarter and narrowed it to a 3 point gap in the 4th before Cincinnati got some key baskets by Pat Doherty and Dan Richards. Scoring leaders for Cincinnati were Drew McLoon (23) and Nick Sousa (19). Steve Richards, Zach Ricardo and Chris Shepherd were strong defensively. For Miami, Sam Scriavani continued his strong play with 15 points while his backcourt mate Joey Garcia added 8 points. Miami also received solid contributions from Mike Terrio and Rob Whittaker.

Maryland 39 – Clemson 29

Maryland proved too strong for Clemson as they took a 39-29 decision. The key to the game was the second quarter as Maryland outscored Clemson 9-2. Guard Bobby Mountcastle led the attack with 12 points. Center Anthony Andre and Alex Hurd also added to the scoring punch. Tom Martin and Nick David both had 7 points to lead Clemson.

Week #3

After 3 weeks Georgetown is the only undefeated team in the junior boys division as Notre Dame, Clemson and Cincinnati all fell for the first time. For Georgetown it was an over time sensation while Notre Dame lost an over time thriller.

North Carolina 47 – Notre Dame 46

In a battle of two heavy weights North Carolina took a 47-46 decision over Notre Dame in over time. The Tar Heels led by 3 late in the game but guard Bobby Hansbury hit nothing but net for a 3 pointer and the contest went into over time. In the extra two minutes Hansbury hit on another 3 pointer while Nick Bain calmly sank two foul shots. Unfortunately for the Fighting Irish that was not enough as North Carolina center Alex Pryzblowicz had 5 over time points including a game winning foul shot with less then a second to go to give his club the dramatic one point win. Pryzblowicz led his club with 17 points as he dominated the inside with a number of rebounds and blocked shots. Mike Solomonides added 10 points while Derek Cabral had a big game with 8 points and Ryan Decoste scored 7 points. Yung Fu Fung thrilled the crowd with his first basket of the year. Nick Govoni also scored while Nick Anniballi and Yung Yue Fung also made strong contributions. Hansbury led all scores with 20 pints. Steve Buckley stepped up big for Notre Dame with 14 points while Bain and Dan Pho had 4 points.

Georgetown 43 – Miami 40

Georgetown was clearly headed for its first loss of the season as they trailed Miami by 3 with 5 seconds to go. Drew Loiselle had other ideas as the Hoya star hit a fade away from 3 point lad as time expired to send the game into over time. In the extra session Anthony Mazzeo scored two hoops and Danny Aker added another as Georgetown prevailed over winless Miami 43-40. Loiselle had a game high 17 points including 10 in the last quarter. Mike Moriarty had a solid game with 9 points while Aker added 6 points. For Miami, Sam Scriavani had another double figure game as he scored 17 points. Joe Garcia scored 9 points while Andre Jaquint added 6 points.

Marquette 47 – Clemson 36

Marquette won their second game in a row led by Jimmy Travaglini's 16 points and a big game from Tom Komow who had 14. Clemson kept the game close by relying on 18 points from David Shaw and 8 from Nick Davis as well as a solid press that had the game close late in the game at 35 -32, Marquette stepped up big however and finished with a 12 -4 run to secure the victory with some very good defense and rebounding down the stretch. Marquette was aided by solid games from Jordan Reynolds with 7 points and Gerard Eastman with 4 points and some good rebounding as well as a career first hoop from Ryan Carr on a foul line jumper.

Wake Forest 39 – Cincinnati 35

Beaufort Pyram’s 18 points led Wake Forest to a 29-25 win over previously undefeated Cincinnati. After being down 26-22 after 3 quarter Wake outscored the Bearcats 13 to 2 in the first part of the 4th quarter. Pyram keyed the surge with 8 points while guard Brian Trudel had 3 of his 7 points in the same section. Jacob Christensen helped out with 8 points while Bob DiFronzo scored 6 and Brent Torigian added 4 points. Drew McLoon led Cincinnati with 13 points and Evan Lefebvre, Daniel Richards and Michael Ferreira had 4 each.

Syracuse 38 – UConn 34

With 3:30 left in the game Syracuse appeared poised to win their first game of the season as they led by 16 points. UConn however almost made a miraculous come back as they outscored Syracuse 12-0 in the final segment but fell just short 38-34. Syracuse guard Adam Barooshian made a number of great drives to the hoop and scored 14 points. Tanner Houle hit for 8 points while Evan Brown, Oliver Farren, Alex Lin each had 4 points. Joe Roark, Phil Lane, Danny Reynolds and Conner Schille also played well to help Syracuse to improve to 1-2 on the season. Chris Spaziani led UConn with 12 points of which 6 came in the last quarter. Lee Burgess also had 6 in the final quarter and ended up with 10 points. Jake Lovas had a solid game with 8 points.

Maryland 32 – Boston College 30

In another close call Maryland hung on to defeat Boston College 32-30. Maryland led 32-24 going in the final segment. BC however put on pressure defense and blanked Maryland 6-0 down the stretch but 2 points was a close as they got. Bobby Moutcastle led all scorers with 11. His Maryland team mate Alex Hurd used his athleticism for 10 points while Anthony Andre added 7 points. Anthony Donahue and Dan Phillips each had 8 for BC while Michael Kelley had 6 and Brian Bottari and Nathan Harmon scored 4 each.

Duke 24 -- Providence 21

In what turned out to be a tale of two games, Duke prevailed over Providence 24-21 in a battle that came down to the wire. Duke opened up the game scoring the first three baskets in the first quarter while Providence’s only score came on free throws. The second period saw more of the same as Duke widened the lead at halftime to 10-3 in a low scoring match where the shots were just not going in.

The start of the second half appeared to be more of the same as Duke continued to hit their shots and extend the lead to twelve. Then the second game began and the Providence shots started to fall. By the end of the third period Duke’s lead was only three. Providence, Led by Zack Newell and Peter Lawler in the last quarter cut Duke’s lead to only two points when the game’s high scorer, Brian Rose hit a free throw to guarantee victory with six seconds left for the exhausted Duke team. Brian ended the game with nine points and Doug Calenda contributed eight to lead the Blue Devils.

Week #2

Marquette, Duke and Maryland all grabbed their first win of the season while Notre Dame, Georgetown, Clemson and Cincinnati made it 2-0

Duke 46 - Wake Forest 31

Led by the tandem of Nick Glovin and Doug Calenda (17 and 12 points respectively), Duke registered their first victory of the season by defeating Wake Forest 46- 31. Duke was in control throughout as they led 10-4 after one quarter and 23-14 at the break. While inside presence of Glovin and Calenda was too much for Wake Forest, Duke also received solid back court play from Jeff Falco as the pesky point guard added 8 points. Also contributing timely baskets for Duke were Brian Rose, Anthony Omobono, Justin Hennessey, Ishaan Goel and Brian Perry. Jacob Christiansen was the main man for Wake Forest as he scored 12 points. Beufort Pryman and Brian Trudel each had 4 points.

Marquette 50 – Providence 23

After loosing a close game in week one Marquette had no problem in week two as they ran past Providence 50-23. Jimmy Travaglini showed he is going to be one of the top guards as he ripped off 28 points. Travaglini had plenty of help as Jordan Reynolds tossed in 6 followed by 4 points by Mason Trubey and Nathan Haded. Peter Lawlor, Stephen McDonald Daniel Havenar and Matt Lubao each had 4 points for Providence.

Maryland 34 – Syracuse 27

The second quarter was the key in Maryland’s 34-27 win over Syracuse. Maryland outscored the Orangemen 9-0 in the second stanza to even their record at 1-1. Anthony Andre had 4 of his game high 12 points in the second quarter. Bobby Mountcastle had a strong game with 8 points and Alex Hurd and Terrance Turney scored 6 points each. Maryland also received fine play from Brian Robillrd, Shree Nadkarni, Michael Kelly, Andrew Lloyd and Connor Martin. Tanner Houle led Syracuse with 8 points while Connor Schille and Adam Barooshian each scored 6 points.

Cincinnati 43 – North Carolina 37

Despite playing with only 6 players Cincinnati had enough legs to defeat North Carolina 43-37. The victors led 13-9 after one and improved the lead to 26-17 at half time. Drew McLoon led the way with 16, of which 7 came in the big second quarter. Michael Ferreira and Nick Sousa had big games with 11 points each while Evan Lefebvre added 6 points. Cincinnati also received outstanding defensive play from Pat Doherty and Chris Sheppard. North Carolina’s Michael Solomonides led all scorers with 25 points while Alex Pryzbylowicz added 6 points.

Georgetown 38 – Boston College 33

Georgetown outscored Boston College 12-6 in the third quarter and went on to a 38-33 victory. Guard Danny Aker had six of his 11 points in the third quarter to lead Georgetown to the win. Center Drew Loiselle scored 6 and was dominant on the boards. Anthony Mazzeo had some big shots and scored 6 points while Dan Huntington added 2 baskets. Mike Moriarty and Tom Bradley also contributed baskets in the win while Kevin Moriarty had a fine all around game. Dan Phillips was tough around the basket and led BC with 12 points. Anthony Donahue scored 10 points and Brian Bottari added 7 points.

Clemson 45- Miami 42

It was another close encounter for Clemson as they got by Miami 45-42. This contest was close throughout as neither team could break away to a big lead. Clemson guard David Shaw had another stellar game with 15 points to lead the Tigers. Nick Davis has 12 points of which 6 came in the final quarter. Tom Martin also had a big scoring game with 10 points. Miami guard Sam Scrivani was outstanding in a loosing effort as the talented guard scored 15 points of which 9 came from the foul line. Andre Jaquint scored 8 of his 10 points in the second half and Joe Garcia added 5 points.

Notre Dame 42 – UConn 24

If two games is any indication Notre Dame is going to be a force to be reckoned with. The Fighting Irish ran past UConn 42-24. Center Dan Pho was dominant with 18 points while the other big guy Jake Higson scored 6 points. Mike Hansbury also scored 6 points while Nick Bain, Jim Lyons and Tim Callahan had two points each.
