On Saturday, November 15th, the Chelmsford Youth Basketball League (CYBL) held it’s first-ever 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Chelmsford High School. The tournament was open to all who wanted to play, not just CYBL participants.
The tournament ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 55 teams (almost 200 total players) vying for team honors in 8 different divisions - 6th grade and under, 7/8th grade, High School and Adults - both men and women.
A total of 125 games were played on Saturday. Games were played for 15 minutes or 15 points, whichever came first. Each team was guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, with winning teams playing a total of 6 games.
Team entrance fees and refreshment sales during the tournament raised over $2,200. CYBL uses this money to fund a number of league activities including the CYBL Scholarship Fund that goes annually deserving Chelmsford High School students.
CYBL wants to thank the volunteers from the CYBL Board of Directors and from the Chelmsford High School National Honor Society who provided tournament organization, refereeing and scorekeeping throughout the day.
CYBL wants to extend special thanks to tournament sponsors Center Sports and Curran & Doherty Financial Group for providing team t-shirts, and to Chelmsford House of Pizza and Embroid Me for providing winning team trophies and prizes.
Based on the success of this first-ever tournament, CYBL plans to make this an annual event. Please watch for next year’s tournament announcement and sign-up to play!
